Seguimos aquí. Soul&Sword se mueve, se acerca, vibra... A principios del próximo año verá la luz el primer proyecto ilustrado. Soul&Sword será un libro autoconclusivo que narra una historia previa a la de las novelas de la Flor de Jade. Por que no decirlo... estoy disfrutando :)

We are still here. Soul & Sword moves on, comes, vibrates ... Early next year, the first illustrated project will see the light. Soul & Sword is a self-ending story that precedes the novels of  "La Flor de Jade". Why not to say it ... I'm enjoying :)

Laira cover ...or a pic´s Time Travel

Hace unos meses realicé la portada para el libro "Laira , la hechicera de los Sirianos" publicado por Mundos Épicos y escrito por Lucía Amat que ya está a la venta. Para esta portada hice varios bocetos de composición a lápiz con los tres elementos que quería mostrarse sobre un fondo arbolado. Finalmente la editorial decidió el tercero de abajo con la hechicera en primer plano frontal sobre la niña y el lobo.

A few months ago I did the cover for the book "Laira, sorceress of the Syrians" published by Mundos Épicos and written by Lucia Amato that is already on sale. For this cover I made several pencil sketches with the three elements that wanted to appear and a background of trees. Finally, the publisher decided the third one below with the witch front view over the wolf and the girl.

 Después de casi dos semanas y varios envios más del proceso de color intercambiando opiniones con el editor teníamos la portada definitiva que teneis debajo. En este caso se dió una curiosa situación y un par de días después de la entrega final recibo el aviso de que hay un problema... el personaje de Laira, central en la historia, aparte de delgada y de cara dulce... ¡tiene unos 60 años! y no había tenido noticia de ello hasta el momento. Ante tal diferencia hubo que replantear el rostro del personaje ( lo que más me había costado xD ) sobre la portada terminada para hacerla fiel a la historia. La portada definitiva es la última que tenéis abajo.

After almost two weeks with several more mailings about the color process to exchange points of view with the publisher we had the final cover that you have below. In this case, there was a curious situation and a couple of days after the final delivery I receibed the notice that there was a problem ... Laira's character, central to the story is about 60 years! and had not heard of it so far. Given this difference I had to rethink the character's face (where I had spent a lot of time xD) on the finished cover to make it true to the story. The final cover is the last you have below.

Comming... The Art of "la Flor de Jade"

Hace unos días anunciabamos la salida del tercer libro de la saga "La Flor de Jade", como ya apuntabamos es sólo el primer paso, el relato ilustrado Soul&Sword y los libros de Arte de la Flor de Jade verán la luz en el próximo año. Este último contendrá escenas, personajes y procesos de trabajo de ilustración sobre el mundo de Jesús B. Vilches. Llevamos ya unos meses trabajando en este proyecto, que en un principio iba a consistir en ofrecer las novelas ilustradas, nos ha parecido que pedía más y hemos decidido brindarle su propio espacio... De momento os dejo una de las ilustraciones de escena de El Enviado que ocupa también nuestra portada provisional ;)

A few days ago we announced the publication of the third book in the series "La Flor de Jade", as we said, is only the first step, illustrated story Soul & Sword and the Art books of the "La Flor de Jade" will be released next year. The last one will contain scenes, characters and illustration work processes about the world of Jesus B. Vilches. We have spent several months working on this project, which initially would be to offer the illustrated novels, we felt that it wanted more and have decided to give its own space ... For now, you have below one of the scene pictures from "El Enviado" that also occupies our provisional cover ;)

Finally, the third volume of "La Flor de Jade" is already on the street, an unpublished volume that many have been waiting for. Jesus Vilches and Me could not be happier, fulfilled the first stage of a global project that is progressing. You can buy the third volume HERE

Os dejo algunos pasos preliminares del trabajo en esta tercera portada. La posición del personaje se decidió a partir de estos tres primeros bocetos a lápiz, buscabamos una imagen con cierta tensión y envolver al personaje en un halo de misterio optando por el boceto de espaldas. A partir de las ideas generales de Vilches sobre el tipo de indumentaria que podría llevar fuimos añadiendo elementos y modificando intentando mantener y potenciar la esencia de la imagen entre el diseño, luz y color.

I leave some preliminary steps of work in this third cover. The position of the character is decided from the first three pencil sketches, we wanted a picture with some tension and involve the character in a halo of mystery opting for the backward sketch. From Vilches general ideas about the kind of clothing that could lead we were adding and modifying elements trying to maintain and enhance the essence of the image working with design, color and light.

Aquí os dejo algunos bocetos y pasos del proceso. Queríamos un Allwënn imponente y decidimos cambiar por completo la posición del personaje. En el color digital finalmente decidimos mostrarlo con el torso desnudo, más salvaje y que sólo él y la espada fueran protagonistas de la portada.

Here you have some sketches and process steps. We wanted a stunning Allwënn and decided to completely change the character's position. In the digital color finally decided to show bare-chested, wilder and that only he and the sword were the protagonists of the cover.

"La Flor de Jade" Everything starts

Hace algo más de dos años recibí el encargo de realizar la portada de El Enviado, primer volúmen de La Flor de Jade, escrito por Jesús B. Vilches. Desde aquella pequeña descripción que me enviaba Vilches se advertía ya una forma distinta de mirar y de entender lo que quería transmitir. Un año después repetimos experiencia realizando también la portada para el segundo volumen, de nuevo vuelve a sorprenderme con un personaje cargado de fuerza...

Ha pasado el tiempo y el Vilches se ha convertido en gran amigo y compañero de batalla, nos embarcamos en un proyecto global basado en el universo de La Flor de Jade, mis lápices (y tableta ;D) no pueden estar más contentos, hay una conexión especial entre lo que él escribe y lo que yo dibujo incluso desde antes de conocernos personalmente. Llevamos ya más de un año trabajando en varios proyectos en paralelo y ahora os presentamos El Enviado,  primer volumen de la saga en una edición revisada con el que iniciamos esta andadura.

It´s a little over two years since I was asked to make the cover of "El Enviado", the first volume of "La Flor de Jade", written by Jesus B. Vilches. From that brief description that Vilches sent me was warned  a different way to look at and understand what he wanted to pass on. A year later we repeated the experience making the cover for the second volume, again surprised me with a character full of strength ...

Time has passed and Vilches has become a great friend and companion in battle, we embarked on a global project based on the universe of "La Flor de Jade", my pencils (and tablet, D) can not be happier, there is a special connection between what he writes and I draw even before we met in person. We've been over a year working on several projects in parallel and now we introduce "El Enviado", the first volume of the series in a revised edition with which we began this journey.
